Russian-Chinese cooperation in the area of forest development was discussed in Yekaterinburg
Sergey Malkov, General Director of LLC "Siberwood" participated in the round table meeting "Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of forest resources development", which took place in Yekaterinburg on July 13, 2016 in the framework of the business program of the Third Russian-Chinese Expo.
The meeting was attended by representatives of regional authorities, business, investment companies, design and scientific organizations of both countries. The moderator of the round table from the Russian side was the director of the chemical technological and timber industry complex department of the Industry and Trade Ministry in Russia Vladimir Potapkin, from the Chinese side - Commercial Counsellor of the External Investment and Economic Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Commerce of China Han Yong.
The roundtable participants discussed the implementation progress of joint projects in Tomsk, Irkutsk and the Jewish autonomous areas, including problems faced by Chinese investors in Russia, measures of state support for Russian timber industry enterprises.
The Russian side drew the attention of the Chinese colleagues to specific features in design process of the creation of wood-processing capacities in Russia and presented promising projects in cooperation with China in the field of timber industry complex in the Sverdlovsk and Arkhangelsk areas, Krasnoyarsk region. These projects cover all the main types of wood processing: from the creation of wood-processing enterprises to the creation of major wood chemical complexes.
Participants noted that for more effective implementation of deep wood processing projects it is appropriate to consider the participation of Chinese companies in joint projects in the framework of forest industry clusters. The Chinese side has been requested to study in detail the possibilities provided by the Sverdlovsk and Arkhangelsk areas, the Republic of Buryatia and the proposed project of LLC "Siberwood" in the Krasnoyarsk region. The parties agreed to consider the intermediate results of cooperation on these issues at the next meeting.
