Investors from the PRC are willing to invest $ 1 billion in the construction of two pulp mills in Siberia.
Ministry of Industry and Trade agreed on the participation of Chinese partners in financing the construction of two pulp mills in Russia with a total value of more than $ 3 billion, as well as the final product supplies to China. The newspaper "News" was informed of it by the ministry following the results of the meeting with Chinese partners.
This week, within the framework of the official visit of the Russian delegation to China, headed by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Evtukhov, the talks were held on the development of investment cooperation between the two countries in terms of wood processing and the joint use of forest resources of Russia.
- China currently consumes about 25 million tons of market pulp per year, and its consumption is growing annually by 5-10%, - said Victor Evtukhov.
According to the representative of Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Chinese investors are ready to finance the construction of two pulp mills in Siberia for a total amount of $ 1 billion.
It is referred to the construction of a mill in the city of Amursk (Khabarovsk territory) with a capacity of up to 750 th. tons of softwood pulp per year, as well as about the project of a pulp mill in the Yenisei district of a Krasnoyarsk region with a capacity of 900 th. tons. The total cost of the first project is estimated at more than $ 1 billion, the second - about $ 2 billion. The construction of the mills is scheduled for completion in 2019.
